Where did the name Newly Weds Foods come from?
When the company was founded in 1932, the sole product was aconfectionary treat called the ice cream cake roll. This product was described by our founderas, "the perfect marriage of ice cream and cake." The name Newly Weds Foods wasborn out of that description.

How did you get started in making food coatings?
In the early 1950's Newly Weds Foods recognized the importance and potential of the then emerging frozen food industry. The company applied bakery-based technology in manufacturing appropriate batters & breadings that could with stand the rigors of freeze-thaw and longer distribution cycles. Getting an early start in serving this industry proved very strategic as Newly Weds became the leading producer of customized food coatings in the United States by the mid-1950's and a position held to this day.

Why does Newly Weds Foods have so many manufacturing facilities?
The customer always comes first in Newly Weds' business approach. Locating manufacturing facilities (most with on-site R&D labs) in close proximity to our customers means everything from a quicker response to theirneeds to transportation advantages. Also, having more plants provides for redundancies in manufacturing so we have a high level of assurance that should a line in one plant go down, we can shift that to another plant and not miss a customer order. This also means Newly Weds Foods has the available capacity to withstand a production disruption and to also keep pace with our customer's growth.

Is it true Newly Weds Foods introduced North America to Panko over 49 years ago?
Newly Weds introduced Japanese style bread crumb (Panko) technology to the United States in 1977. It offered a unique "slivered" appearance and crispy yet tender bite with a cooking tolerance that allowed for use on a much wider range of products than previous coating systems. And, it could be formulated for conventional, convection or microwave ovens in addition to fryer applications.
